The drive from Amarillo to Waynoka is about 215 miles and 3.5 hours. Take US-60 E through Pampa, Miami and Canadian, past Higgins and Arnett, then north through Shattuck to Woodward. Continue on US-412 E to US-281 N into Waynoka. In Waynoka, rentals may use town streets except the main highway and Sahara Drive; take the sand trail to the park.
The Panhandle’s familiar red-dirt terrain and Canadian River country give way at Little Sahara State Park to 1,600 acres of shifting sand, with dunes rising up to 75 feet. A Polaris RZR side-by-side lets your group explore the open terrain without hauling a trailer to far-off dunes. Two- and four-seat models are available, with helmets and goggles provided.
