THE DESERT OASIS OF THE MIDWEST

Kansas City off-roaders are highly accustomed to wooded trails, tight dirt tracks, and mud riding. Whether it's Chadwick or local MO parks, you're usually dodging trees and crawling over rocks.

Little Sahara is a completely different riding style. It's carving bowls and floating over 1,600 acres of pure sand. It's wide-open adrenaline. Read our Little Sahara Park Guide for more visitor info. Plus, when you're done, you don't have to spend hours power-washing mud out of every crevice of your UTV. It's the perfect 3-day weekend destination.

THE KC TO DUNES ROAD TRIP

It’s an easy ~6-hour drive down I-35 S. Make a 3-day weekend out of it with this simple itinerary.

The Route: I-35 S to US-281

Head south on I-35 right out of KC. You'll cruise through Kansas down to Wichita, then angle southwest into Oklahoma on US-281. The transition from rolling plains to suddenly seeing 1,600 acres of sand dunes is incredible.

"I usually ride at Chadwick, but this was a totally different experience. Driving down from Kansas City was 100% worth it to carve these dunes in a Polaris RZR."

"The best part? Not having to spend 3 hours power-washing mud off my gear when I get back to KC. The sand brushes right off. We'll be back!"

– Taylor M., Kansas City, MO
