THE 2.5-HOUR DRIVE SOUTH: WICHITA TO WAYNOKA ROUTE GUIDE
From Wichita, one route follows US-54 / US-400 west to Pratt, then US-281 south through Medicine Lodge and Alva into Waynoka. Another follows KS-42 / KS-2 southwest toward Anthony before connecting with US-281 south. The drive is about 140 miles and 2.5 hours.
Medicine Lodge, Anthony, and Alva are possible stops along the way. Park a sedan or SUV at 131 William Ave #15B, Waynoka, OK 73860, collect your helmets and goggles. Ride straight from our shop on Waynoka's town streets. Just stay off the main highway and Sahara Drive, and take the sand trail to the park.
The fleet includes XP 1000 and Pro S two-seat RZRs, plus XP4 1000 and Pro S4 four-seat RZRs.
NO KANSAS PUBLIC DUNES? WHY CROSS THE OKLAHOMA BORDER
For Wichita riders looking beyond local gravel roads, Little Sahara State Park offers 1,600 acres of open sand dunes with 75-foot dunes.
Duner's Hut rents Polaris RZR side-by-sides for groups, not single-rider quads. Rentals come with a 10-foot whip and solid orange 6-by-12 flag; park entry is $15 per person, and children 10 and under are free.
WICHITA DAY TRIP VS. OVERNIGHT STAY & RIDE IN WAYNOKA
Leave Wichita in the morning for the roughly 2.5-hour drive. Choose a 2-hour intro ride, a 4-hour rental, or a 60-minute guided tour; Hammerheads is off the sand trail and Jiffy Trip is in Waynoka for food or fuel.

On the return route, Alabaster Caverns State Park near Freedom or Great Salt Plains State Park near Jet are possible detours.

Spring (March–May) and fall (September–November) are highlighted as riding seasons. In summer, consider an early start or a 6:00 PM Sunset Guided Tour; guided tour times change with the season.
